Description and lore

Vault

A heavy fitted door guards a compact, reinforced enclosure for valuables.

Lore and observations

A vault concentrates what its owners cannot afford to lose. Keys, custody and a reliable record matter alongside stone and iron.

Its enclosure and access remain distinct pieces of construction. A careful owner inspects hinges and surrounding masonry rather than admiring the lock alone.

Rules and details

Description

A lock buys time. A reinforced door buys more.

Requires

Requires: A secure site; fitted lock and masonry or equivalent enclosure.

Construction

Construction: 12 suitable Common resources (120g); 2 Workdays, or 170g expected installed value; 2 G maintenance per 30 days.

Effect

Effect: Stores 64 Carry of valuables. Entry requires the key, another valid opening method, or defeating the access component. Door d8 / Integrity 3; enclosure d10 / Integrity 4. These are separate targets. A picked lock opens the door without breaching masonry; a successful repair does not recreate stolen valuables. This is neither magical secrecy nor immunity to an established bypass.

At the table

The key turns heavily; iron scrapes against its socket in the stone.
