Description and lore

Palisade Section

Close-set timber stakes form a blunt, practical barrier around a defended approach.

Lore and observations

A palisade looks strongest where its makers have fitted the timber carefully and kept its footing sound. Uneven repairs can reveal which section has received the hardest use.

It changes the approach visibly: arrivals must find an opening, climb or confront the timber itself. The line of stakes makes the boundary easy to understand.

Rules and details

Description

A close line of timber makes an approach costly to cross.

Structure

Structure: Durability d6; Integrity 2

Requires

Requires: Suitable ground, known design and materials; lawful or established control of the site.

Construction

Construction: Large Common craft; 12 resources (120g); 2 Workday(s), or 170g expected installed/purchased value; 2 G maintenance per 30 days.

Effect

Effect: A 15-foot-long, 10-foot-high timber section blocks passage until crossed, bypassed or breached. Climbing requires actual handholds and normal consequential Maneuver; it is not an invisible prohibition. At destruction, one person-wide breach opens and nearby splinters are described; no unprinted area damage is added.

At the table

Wind rattles the timber tips; fresh shavings pale against older wood.
