Description and lore

Masonry Wall Section

Fitted stone blocks create a heavy wall whose joints and repairs remain visible at close range.

Lore and observations

A masonry section gives a defended site a sense of permanence. Its color and finish can reflect the materials its builders actually obtained.

Corners, joins and the ground beneath the wall all matter to those maintaining it. A close inspection often begins with the least impressive part of the masonry.

Rules and details

Description

Heavy stone withstands blows that would scatter lighter defenses.

Structure

Structure: Durability d10; Integrity 4

Requires

Requires: Suitable ground, known design and materials; lawful or established control of the site.

Construction

Construction: Large Common craft; 12 resources (120g); 2 Workday(s), or 170g expected installed/purchased value; 2 G maintenance per 30 days.

Effect

Effect: A 15-foot-long, 10-foot-high masonry section blocks ground passage and ordinary direct fire through solid stone. A method capable of affecting massive masonry is required for structural damage. At destruction, a person-wide breach opens; adjacent sections do not automatically collapse. Gate openings and exposed upper positions are separate.

At the table

Cool mortar darkens the joints; one patched course is paler than the surrounding stone.
