Description and lore

Firing Screen

A timber firing screen covers a fighting position while leaving the opening its weapon needs.

Lore and observations

A screen concentrates protection where a defender intends to stand. Its openings are fitted around the actual equipment behind it.

Scored boards and replaced panels tell the story of a position used repeatedly. The screen's actual shape makes clear which directions it covers.

Rules and details

Description

A protected firing position leaves only the opening its weapon needs.

Structure

Structure: Durability d6; Integrity 2

Requires

Requires: Suitable ground, known design and materials; lawful or established control of the site.

Construction

Construction: Medium Common craft; 6 resources (60g); 1 Workday(s), or 85g expected installed/purchased value; 2 G maintenance per 30 days.

Effect

Effect: A 15-foot timber screen protects the actual covered body areas from direct attacks crossing it. Three fitted openings permit ordinary ranged fire when the weapon fits and a line of sight exists. Occupants remain exposed through openings and from other directions; intercepting a shot targets the screen instead of assigning an invented flat defense bonus. Destruction removes that screening.

At the table

Light cuts through the firing opening and lies across a waiting weapon.
