Description and lore
An ancient fossil preserves a strange fae impression in stone, a material for reshaping instruments.
The fossil belongs first to an old surface: ridges, fractures and a form only partly freed from the surrounding rock.
A protective mount keeps the ancient impression intact. The maker turns it beside a small unfinished object, comparing the available surfaces before beginning.
