Prepare the scene

The flame leans away from the hearth without leaving its shape behind. Light runs across the walls as it turns toward you.

A concentrated flame takes on a restless, almost bodily shape. Its light makes nearby surfaces bright while the space behind it remains uncertain.

Establish the surroundings, each participant’s position, and what the party can perceive before resolving the encounter. Use the current core rules for surprise and turn order when combat begins.

Burst uses finite Mana; water-filled ground removes its ordinary movement route unless supported by a surface.
