Prepare the scene

The green figure slips behind a tree. The path beyond it looks familiar, though the stream is now on the wrong side.

A green-skinned prowler draws travelers toward false routes and waits where their bearings fail. A familiar-looking path becomes another reason to doubt the way ahead.

Establish the surroundings, each participant’s position, and what the party can perceive before resolving the encounter. Use the current core rules for surprise and turn order when combat begins.
